scattered light rain showers this morning. the thunderstorms will develop this afternoon in some neighborhoods. not everybody will see the rain. high temperature of 83 degrees. we'll come back and check the seven-day forecast and carry through next weekend. >> a woman is dead after a fire in northeast baltimore. >> it happen on sunday morning on north avenue. kim dacey is live downtown with the latest. >> the victim was an 88-year-old woman who lived in the home with other family members. she was the only one inside the home when the fire started. officials say the fire started just after 6:30 sunday evening on east north avenue near collington avenue in northeast baltimore.

firefighters say a neighbor was hurt trying to get into the home to save the victim. he was rushed to the hospital with a possible leg fracture. the body was found inside the home. officials do not know how she died. they think it was due to smoke inhalation and burns. neighbors say it was a terrible scene. >> i saw the flames shooting up out from the first floor and the flames were so thick and intense. i've never seen any flames like that before. it was really, really bad. >> the whole neighborhood -- everybody in the neighborhood that came around trying to help, getting people out of their houses and stuff. >> the cause of the fire is still under investigation. kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> no word on what set off a fire the place through a dundalk restaurant on sunday. firefighters were called just

before 7:30 last night. a fire was spotted in the basement of the restaurant. one person had to be carried out. >> she started to fall. et and i tookbuck d her out of the building and put her in your car. >> i wanted to put it out but it got too strong and the smoke was too powerful. i was worried about the fire and worried about everybody else. >> no word on the amount of damage that was done to the restaurant. >> a gas station clerk is recovering from a gunshot. the armed robber demanded money from the clerk on saturday night. police say the clerk tried to fight the robber off, and that

is when the shots were fired. >> they refuse to give the money and a scuffle ensued. the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the cashier. >> the gun man is described with a heavy build and a beard. anyone with information should call police in laurel. no leads as to who shot up a labor day weekend party in northeast baltimore killing a woman. police say larelle amos was in her front yard about 2:15 sunday morning when somebody a block away opened fire, striking her in the chest. she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. >> police searched for three men

who shot a food delivery man. this happened just before 11:00 p.m. on clifton terrace. the victim said three strangers walked up to his car and started to shoot. the driver sped off but not before being shot. the victim will make a full recovery. two members remain on administrative leave after reportedly shooting a man in west baltimore. police noticed an armed man sitting on the steps of a house. police say the suspect ran at the officers and pointed a handgun in the other direction. that is when the officers fired. >> church officials in perry hall are planning their local bomb for high school shooting victim daniel borowy.

the checkered flag has dropped on the baltimore grand prix. ticket sales were down from last year's event. about 100,000 headed to the city for the race last weekend. people had more room to watch the race and traveling around the city was much easier. >> i think this year it was much better. there was more space to walk around. >> the crowd was spread out. it was a little more comfortable wise.iowd- >> there were backups at the bridges last year. traffic has been good for people. we made sure that downtown baltimore is open for business. >> organizers are pleased with the way the event turned out.

>> welcome back. beautiful shot at the beach. it has not been the best beach weekend weather-wise. scattered thunderstorms are likely to develop later on this afternoon. not a lot happening around baltimore right now. some hit and miss light rain showers. 76 at the airport. 73 in jarrettsville. you'll feel the humidity will you step outside. this is the available moisture in the atmosphere. the atmosphere we use that to create thunderstorms this afternoon.

we have plenty of energy from what is left of isaac. that will create the lift to make the thunderstorms this afternoon. thunderstorms will develop and it is difficult to pinpoint them. if you happen to get underneath one of them, you could see an inch or two of rain. do stuff outside as early in the day as you can if you want to miss the thunderstorms. this is tropical storm leslie with sustained winds 60 miles per hour. you can see the computer models taken off to the north and east. maybe next weekend, that can come close to the new england shoreline. are we having microphone problems? oh. nobody could hear me talking?

thanks for joining us for 11 news today. >> tony pann has a check of today's forecast. >> it is a warm and muggy start. very quiet. i couldn't do a thing with by here this morning. scattered showers to start the day. if you get underneath a storm, they may produce two inches of rain in a short period of time. high temperature of 83 degrees. >> thank you. a house fire claims the life of an elderly woman. >> the blaze broke out just after 6:30 sunday evening. kim dacey joins us live with more details. good morning. >> good morning. there was a good samaritan who tried to save the 88-year-old woman who was inside the home. he was injured and the woman inside the home perished.

>> simply looking into the home, all you see is black. literally black. all that remains are charred. the walls are dark from the smoke and soot. >> officals say the fire started around 6:40 sunday evening at this home on east north avenue in northeast baltimore. >> i saw the flames shooting up out from the first floor and the flames were so thick and intense. i've never seen any flames like that before. it was really, really bad. >> the whole neighborhood -- everybody in the neighborhood that came around trying to help, getting people out of their houses and stuff. >> a neighbor got hurt when trying to the into the home to save an elderly woman. he was rushed to hospital with a possible leg fracture. firefighters found the elderly woman's body inside the home. >> we learned that this was an 88-year-old woman. she does live with other relatives in the home. nobody else was home at the

time. >> they comforted one another as they walked away. fire officials do not know exactly how the woman died. they think it was from smoke inhalation and burns. the cause of this fire remains under investigation. kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> thank you. fire officials are trying to determine what sparked a deadly fire that killed one person in east baltimore. the fire happened just before 3:00 on saturday. investigators say crews found a man inside the home but he was pronounced dead at the scene. the man was well known in the neighborhood. >> he was a good guy. everybody loved him in the neighborhood. i loved him. the whole neighborhood knew him well. >> police say a firefighter fell

through the floor into the basement but he was not injured. >> no word of what caused a deadly car accident. police say officers were called to patuxent river road in davidsonville. the driver and the passenger were each taken to the hospital where they later died. investigators are still trying to determine if speed or alcohol were a factor in the crash. >> president obama will tour the destruction left in the wake of isaac. some decided losing everything twice was enough. we have the latest.

to create more thunderstorms. you can see the circulation. it is cutting through the southern part of indiana. it is grabbing moisture and driving in from the south. the dew points are in the low to mid 70's. a tropical field. a few sprinkles in delaware. just like yesterday, we will see some scattered thunderstorms develop. it could drop anywhere from one to two inches of rain in a short amount of time. not everybody will see the rain. it will be hit and miss. be prepared for some thunderstorms this afternoon. this is a tropical storm leslie with sustained winds of 60 miles per hour. it will probably miss puerto
